Looking back through the Olympic to where it all started, the Bird’s Nest stadium, I felt a sudden rush of glory. Being a Chinese, though I have no relationship with China, the sense of proudness towards my grass root country being able to stage one of the biggest event in the world, is, err, indescribable.
Same goes to the athletes who competed and still competing in Olympic, to win a gold and being an Olympic champion is no easy task. It takes determination, effort, sacrificial, and much much more to be able to stay on the podium and have the national anthem being played out. I tried to imagine, while I was standing on the podium, winning the badminton against Lin Dan, trying to portray myself as Chong Wei. I would not smile, but tears will flow down uncontrollably, as all these sheer determination had paid off. *Back to here now*
While I was watching the highlights of the games, the athletes were being presented their medals and flowers. not many smiled, instead they cried. As I said earlier, to be able to stand on the podium is no easy task. How many people who actually know what they did behind the scene? They trained 7 hours per day, scarifying the time with family just to brush up their skill, had to put aside their friends as to concentrate on the task, getting countless injury. How many people ever realise that?
We want to be Lin Dan, we want to be Usain Bolt, we want to be Messi, we want to be everyone! But then what differs us from them is their mentality. To be able to fall and stand tall after the fall. To not disappoint the nation by delivering the best. After so many years of hard work, they, able to stand tall glorifying among us. Able to boast about the glory of having the chance to compete in Olympic.
They cried when they win. They cried when they lose.
We can learn something from them. The self-confidence they have, the self-belief that they have nothing to lose. They did more than everyone will do. They sacrificed more than everyone will do. They believed themselves more than everyone will do and in the end, they prevails!
Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys and Girls. To win is one thing, to believe in yourself, is what matters most.
One World One Dream.

While most Malaysians mourned for the past 48 hours, I was beaming in delight, and still in a festive mood too! While doing some blog-hopping, I read a few blog posts that praised Chong Wei for what he did for Malaysia, but there are a few too lashed out disappointments towards Chong Wei approach to the game, which was his worst lost to Lin Dan in their many meetings.
Well, if you feel sad, down, disappointing, disjointed, and feel deserved more from the Malaysia No.1, please don’t do so. Remember how Chong Wei won against Sony? Against Lee Hyun Il? How he overcame the odds stacked against him? How he shoulder the hope of all Malaysians hoping him can bring glory to the country, the country that we beloved?
To compete in a major sports event like Olympic is a glory, something that our nation and its people should be proud of. We may not able to cause any other major upset, we might not able to overhaul China and USA in the medal tally *not even Thailand*, but I can still stand proud, stand tall, as Malaysia has a place in the medal table. Though it may be 20++, but this are the efforts the athletes poured in for so many years, dripped so many sweats, gained so much burden and pressure, and being a part of Beijing is an honour, not just the athletes, but to all Malaysians.

Getting into the final is even a achievement. I didn’t watch the match, but I know that my heart beats more than anyone else as the national anthem being sang out during the medal presentation ceremony. In 51 years, we have achieved quite a distance, and we have something to cheer on!
Malaysians, do not keep looking at the past, time moves forward, not backward. We have won a silver, and this achievement will go down in the history book as a motivation and inspiration to our youngsters so that they will aim to achieve more.
I am still beaming in delight, cause the country did a proud, to be able to stand tall among others, I smiled.

My eyes were glued to the TV in front of me. Trying to get a closer glimpse on what was going to happen next. It was merely 20 seconds, precisely 19.30 seconds before I had even realised that it all ended. It was like a lightning bolt, a gush of wind that soared past my eyes. Whew~~Before I got back to my feet, he was already cheering like a clown, holding his national flag and ran across the Bird’s Nest Stadium. Ladies & Gentlemen, welcome the Earh fastest man, Usian ‘Lighting’ Bolt!

True to his nickname, he’s practically a bolt, lightning bolt. Everything happened so fast, and the next thing I realised was that he won the men 200m final, and with ease. With the replay kept playing again and again, I analysed the whole track. No flaws, perfect start, perfect run, perfect finish. Not his typical style of showboating at the end of the run just like what he did during the men 100m final and humiliating Tyson Gay and his counterpart, Asafa Powell. The silver medal holder behind him was like almost close to 0.60 second! Damn, not even one can compete against him? In 4 days he has beaten and recreated 4 records. Two being world records and two being Olympic records. Forget about Micheal Phelps, this is the guy that we should truly saviour on.
He is just so damn fast! 100m for 9.69 seconds and 200m for 19.30. I remember that I used to run over 15 seconds for 100m. Too embarrass even to mention 200m.

Hey guys it’s me, K-Tuck again. My scout troop a.k.a. 73rd Petaling had a Scout Den Renovation & also a task to build a gadget during this holidays in conjunction of the Merdeka this year. I wont talk much and I’ll let the pictures do the talking. x)

A classroom used to store all the den equipment.

The empty den waiting for new paint job.

The longkang also got new paint job!

Everyone sweeping the dirt on the floor after painting the walls.

Scrubbing the paint off the floor. It was the most tiring job.

More scrubbing… You see that plastic broom there on the left being left unattended? That’s the broom I used and I slacked for abit to take a few pictures.

After cleaning the den. We moved on to build our Merdeka Gadget. That picture above is showing just a starting process, still got alot more to do.

A few scouts lashing 2 pieces of long bakau together to be used as a pole.

Somemore lashing. Both the bakau length can reach 2 stories. And I had to climb that height to lash somemore bakau to connect it together.

Slightly more progress.

Slacker. Like some ‘tao kay’ only.

The bakau’s criss-crossing. Taken from the bottom of the gadget.

The amount of Rafiah left unattended. Where’s the Rafiah Director?

I’m Zeus!
Lastly, I would like to apoligize for the lousy picture quality. Something went terribly wrong on my new Olympus FE-270.

Hello everyone,
I am back again
This is my second entry as a guest blogger. I am not going to introduce Southampton again, instead, the Chinese food here. Since Beng Han blogs about food and restaurant so often maybe you can have a price comparison between these food. I am not sure if he has blog about Dim Sum before but it doesn’t matter, does it?
Restaurant: Dragon Palace | Cuisine: Chinese | Loaction: Southampton City Center
I would say this is the best Chinese restaurant in Southampton. It was opened 2 years ago and the restaurant used to have Malaysian chefs who can cook delicious Malaysian food. Unfortunately, the restaurant was taken over by a Hong Kong woman and the Malaysian chefs were no longer around. The food was not only gone less tasty but also expensive. My friends and I then decided to boycott this restaurant until one day (last year), when we were forced to have dim sum here because the other restaurant was fully booked, and then we realized that the food quality has improved radically. Since then, we always come here for Dim Sum.
Dragon Palace is newly furnished, tidy and spacious. Unlike the other restaurant, which I used to go before this place was opened, have very dim lightning, cram and very bad services! Anyway, I go to Dragon Palace for Dim Sum almost every Sunday morning. Well, not really morning, more like high-tea because they only open at 12 noon!

The bar at the restaurant. Some British drink beer/wine during their lunch. Please don’t ask me why.
OK. I didn’t manage to take many photos of the restaurant because there were many people and everyone on my table was looking at me <shy>. However, I got as many photos of the dishes as I possibly can. And take a look at the price…
Note: Exchange rate - GBP 1 is approximately RM 6.5
All the price below are in Pounds. my keyboard doesn’t have the Pound sign <sowee>

Egg Tart (Set of 3) 2.50

Prawn Dumpling (Har Kau) 2.80, Pork Dumpling (Siu Mai) 2.80

Mixed Meat Glutinour Rice (Loh mai Gai) 2.80

Turnip cake 2.20

Prawn Pastry with Salad Cream 2.50

Bean Curd Cake 2.50

Prawn Cheung Fun 3.00

China Dough Cheong Fun 2.20

XO Sauce Fried Turnip Cake 4.00

Me eating Dim Sum, priceless.
That’s all. Compare the price and you will know how to cherish the food in Malaysia. I wish I can go home this year and makan a lot!
Just Dim Sum alone you can roughly judge the food prices here.
… and now, after looking at all my Dim Sum photos, I AM HUNGRWWEEE !!! <sob sob>
O. K. Time for me to sleep, Bye Bye.

Hello everyone.
This is my first blog entry here. As a guest blogger, guess I should introduce myself first
Name: Lys Soon | Occupation: Student | Location: Southampton, U.K.

Yup, that’s me. Stupid looking but nice in person.
OK, I shall start this blog entry with my life in the U.K. (as advised by Beng Han). Well, as a student, my life is very simple. I basically spend most of my time online, or hibernating during the winter. That’s the boring part… interesting part is that I do dancing very often, and I love shopping. But I only shop during sales because the sales here are fantastic! When they say sales, they really reduced the price hell a lot.
You probably think what kind of dancing I do… Well, I used to dance ballet when I was back in Malaysia. But after I came to the U.K., ballet no longer interest me. Instead, I picked up Ballroom and Latin dance and joined the club In the uni. They provide dance lessons every Monday and Wednesday and practice sessions in the weekends. Since then, I became a ‘full-time dancer; part-time student’ (according to my friends) and nearly f*cked-up my studies.

Why so hardcore? I don’t know… Guess dancing is my only interest, besides sleeping and shopping. (Just in case u wonder, I have successfully finished my undergraduate degree and ‘happily’ doing my Master programme now) I participated in almost every dance competitions, from inter-varsity to open-national competitions, travel from South to North and back to South, pretty hardcore I’d say. I am not a pro but only National Finalist of Advance level. My current dance partner, Dr. Matt, is a British and he has 6 years of dancing experience – he is the pro. We won a couple of small comps and awarded runners-up in the national inter-varsity competition. We also dance for the university team but didn’t go very far as we do not have enough advance dancers in our team.

I ‘borrowed’ this photo from a website. They usually have a professional photographer around to take photos during a competition and then sell them online <JinKaK>

Ballroom: Tango
Venue: The Winter Garden, Blackpool. - World-famous ballroom for Ballroom & Latin Competitions. All international comps held here.
OK, you probably can’t tell the difference of the dances… All these photos were taken when there is a still position, or at the beginning of a dance BECAUSE: my camera is not high-tech enough to catch an action, it will turn out blurrrr.
Next, HOTTTT latin dances…

This photo was taken long time ago in the University of Bath. This Latin dress was made in MaLaysia ! A dressmaker from Sungai Wang and she charged me RM 950 for it, I made two latin dresses and no discount at all… <damn> her.

This photo is super funny, I laugh every time I look at it.
Next: Prize Presentation and The S’oton Team!

National Competition at Blackpool.
All Advance Finalist, couple from left to right: us (Southampton), London, Oxford, Cambridge, Oxford, Oxfrod.
Don’t think that Oxford and Cambridge students are nerds; they are PRO in dancing!

Southampton A Team.
Our University has 3 teams: A, B and C. Each team has 4 couples: 2 for Ballroom and 2 for Latin. We compete against other Universities in the U.K. Obviously, me and Matt are the Latin couple because I suck at Ballroom.

Southampton A Team again, with our lovely team captain.
For more info:
Ballroom consists of 5 dances: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quicksteps.
Latin consists of 5 dances: Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso and Jive.
Ballroom dress code:
Men - Tail Suit or Formal Wear.
Women - Long sparkling gown - the dress/skirt has to be longer than one’s knees but above the ankles.
Attire for Latin:
Men - Standard long pants & shirt.
Women - Sexy dress, preferable short and above the knees.
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
Ok, you probably get very boring by now. Let’s go to the outdoor for some fresh air. I’d like to show you around the Southampton Dock because I live here! My apartment is a 100 year-old building, it looks like a library from the outside but it was actually a post office in the 1920s. It is not creepy at all ok?! They have refurbished this place into luxury apartments. Not that my apartment is very luxury but it has been furnished and everything in here is new with modern furniture.

Wo de Jia. Yeng ma? Like I mentioned earlier, this building is already 100 year-old. It is an apartment now.
Can you see the black gate? That is half of the Dock’s gate. This apartment is allocated by the Dock so… this is what i can see from my apartment windows:

Here is where the world cruises embark: Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Freedom of the Seas…etc. And also the place where they import/export new cars.
A’ite, let’s start from my favourite place: The Ocean Village, which is about 0.3 miles (East) away from my apartment.
TADDDAAAaaa…...........

Now you know why I said Ocean Village is my favourite place!? Look at the yachts, such a nice view… I wish I could afford to stay here

But I am not far away, am I?

They are not cheap, a small one cost almost the price of a small house.

If you want to have a yacht party, you can rent them for a reasonable price according to the size of the yacht you’d like to hire. If I am rich, I want to own one HOHOHO.

Take a look at the apartments bellow, they are ridiculously expensive! 2 millions pounds for a pent house, approximately RM 14 millions !!!

This is the view you will get from a pent house:

Worth it or not, it’s up to an individual to judge.
In conclusion, this place is like a little village with almost all the basic things you need for living such as entertainment, food & groceries. They have:
One convenient store, Tesco Express…

…and two cinemas:

To be honest, I really don’t know why is there 2 cinemas at one place. They are only 2 min walking distance away from each other.
Alright, enough, end of Ocean Village.
Next…… I think I better stop now, save some for my next entry. But before I leave, there are some random photos that I’d like to share with you :)

Mei you liaO - No more - E N D. See U, bye bye.

Hi everyone, I’m kahpeng from www.kahpeng.com, one of Beng Han’s guest blogger. This will be my first post here. Yeah, the title is true that roti chanai cost more than RM45 …..but it’s not in Malaysia. I take the picture from my mobile when I went to ate in one of the chinese restaurant in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. The roti chanai set comes with chicken or beef curry.

Sorry, I know this is not an actual food review but it’s something different I guess
If anyone wondering what is the price the simple food as this will cost, here is the price in the picture.
So Now You Know!
P/S: I’ll post longer blog entry next time
Promise.

I’m a Chelsea fan.
Now, Chelsea is coming to KL, of course I need to blog about them!
Read My Best Football Moment!
This moment goes back to the day when I have Bio for my mid-year exam but I put Chelsea VS Man UTD in the Champions League final as my priority, each gunning for the ‘holy grail’ in the world of football. And yes, I sacrificed my sleeping time for the sake of supporting my team, my mom even nagged me for not focusing on my studies. But I know, I’m going to do whatever I could to offer them my support, which is what a typical Chelsea fan will do.
It’s hard to refresh my memory, remember once, Chelsea had lost to Manchester United in the penalty kick out. It’s heart-breaking, it’s heart-wrenching, and it’s such a pain. Thinking back of the match where two of the shots almost call it a winning game but then it got bounced back by the crossbar, the game is being brought into penalty kick-out.
Anyway, I hold my breath, I watched the players such as Ballack, Lampard, Cole, Beletti, Ronaldo, arguably the best player at that time, missed the penalty. And in just one shot we could sealed the game, winning our first ever Champions League Final, the ‘holy grail’. On coming was my idol, the Mr. Chelsea, John Terry. He’s the one who brought the club to this stage, and he could won the trophy for the club. Just one more shot. My heartbeat increased to the maximum level.
One…Two…Shot! For the split of one second, I saw Van der sar ( Goalkeeper) jumped to wrong side, the ball was heading to the right! It’s going in! IN! IN!
Then came a big ‘bang’. The ball hit the goalpost, and yes, again. The club lost the penalties.
Totally heart-breaking for me to endure such a cruelty in life. But we have reached so far after all. In which we went on to claim the runner-up medal.
This may not define the BEST FOOTBALL MOMENT properly. But to me, yes, the best moment I could ever get. In which I could see the tears flowing from the supporters and players, and me too. Realised that winning is not everything, but to stand tall even we lost the game. Deep inside, I knew, we will come back again next season, because IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!
