Pico Energizing Camp, Casa Rachado (Part 1 of 4)

Monday, July 21st, 2008 401 views

My colleagues has actually planned this few months earlier.

This is a compulsory team building event involving the marketing people, sales team, design gallery, artists and production team.

The entire programme was planned thoroughly by the marketing people by outsourcing to a company called “Eneres” and they are our facilitators for this 2 days programme.

Entrance to Reception Counter

The bad thing is, this resort is a bad place to run team building event, they have bad pool, worst food in the entire Port Dickson, bad environment, and the most interesting thing is, they have a sea which is in black color.

That is totally awful!

By the way, that’s Casa Rachado Resort. Well, this is just a blogger’s honest review.

We left Pico Office and we arrived to Casa Rachado at about 12.30 in the afternoon, which is a little late from our planned schedule. We were greeted by the Eneres team at the entrance of Casa Rachado, and we were brought into a function room for an Ice Breaking Programme.

This is where we went - Casa Rachado MAA Training Resort

We have to do this, create our own so called “flag” with the team’s name accordingly to one of the movies, which my team’s name is “Wanted”

Here, we need to re-arrange this by remembering the visions, missions, core purpose and core values.

We were then brought into our rooms, It seems like it was being built decades ago.

Wow, she had just enough seconds to place the camera, press the button and came into the picture at the 8th second and had the shot at the 10th second and she can still laughing.

That’s how funny this girl is.

5 of us went to this SOHO Kitchen at 1 Utama for dinner after work, the entire restaurant has a very decent interior.

SOHOs Interior

The menu has the face theme.

SOHO

Overall, the quality in terms of food & pricing, this restaurant was known as lower than average.

The food is not fresh yet the price is so expensive. It does not worth the pennies!

1. Mushroom Seafood Fried Mee (Rated 6/10)

Fried mee with mushroom and some seafood with sauce.

2. Spinach with butter sauce (Rated 2/10)

Vege with butter sauce, it’s a very bad combination of taste. Imagine you ordered spinach with this sauce, the taste does not blend with each other well.

3. Fried rice with seafood (Rated 5/10)

Just a plate of normal fried rice.

4. Pork Ribs in BBQ Sauce (Rated 6/10)

Average, I’d rather recommend this !

5. Half Chicken Deep Fried (Rated 2/10)

Chicken is not fresh, fried for several times and it’s being too dry.

6. Boiled Spicy Fish (Rated 4/10)

The soup is tasteless, fish is not fresh.

This course has to be real spicy enough but it is not!

The bill came to a total of RM174.00+ and the restaurant gave us these 1cent coins as change. We are not suppose to use 1 cent coins anymore, isn’t it?

Finally, we can see Gigi now.

Food Rating : 3/10
Service Rating : 7/10
Drinks Rating : 8/10
Price Rating : 4/10
Overall Rating : 3/10

10KM Hike, 73rd Petaling Scout Troop

Saturday, July 19th, 2008 190 views

Hi everyone I’m K-tuck from k-tucky.blogspot.com. It’s a blog about food and travelling. I’m still a secondary school student and you all can tease me with Kentucky if you all want to (k-tucky = kentucky).

First of all, I would like to thank Benghan a thousand times for letting a newbie blogger like me to be the guest blogger. I will try my best to keep the blog’s reputation.

As title says, this post is about my scouts 10KM hike, and also the seniors step up/step down ceremony. In the morning at around 7.45, the troop meeting began! Like normal there will be singing of Negaraku, and the Selangor song, then comes the exciting part, having morning inspections. Being inspected is fun! but not when you screw your uniform up and get called out to be punished.

After that, the teachers incharge came up and gave speeches, some were long, some were short. Everyone felt bored sitting down and since I’m the cameraman, I have the excuse to leave the line and walk around snapping photos.

Let the stepping up/stepping down ceremony begin!

More people like me busy taking pictures.

Pro at work.

The hike began after the stepping up/stepping down ceremony. I didn’t really take many photos of the hike with my camera. Maybe i’ll post it up next time.

Kek Lok Si, Penang

Friday, July 18th, 2008 180 views

Short Note: I will be away later 9.15am to Casa Rachado Port Dickson for company’s team-building event. Be right back tomorrow!

It’s pretty convenient nowadays by just having to drive all the way up to the Penang Kek Lok Si without having to walk through the staircase with many people selling you all the junks.

After having our Assam Laksa at Pasar Air Itam, we went up to Kek Lok Si.

Meet Kuan Yin.

Meet The Buddha

Meet the Mouse

Fuck, I didn’t notice that the lights are behind us. We are too dark to be seen. My bad.

Again, another shot at this entrance.

Hahh, this is better!

Thanks to the superb Canon IXUS 850IS with wide-lens.

Asam Laksa, Pasar Air Itam Penang

Thursday, July 17th, 2008 414 views

Many people loves Asam Laksa because it tastes sour and sometimes spicy.

The main ingredients for assam laksa include shredded fish, normally kembung fish or mackerel, and finely sliced vegetables including cucumber, onions, red chillis, pineapple, lettuce, common mint, “daun kesum” (Vietnamese mint or laksa mint) and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds). Assam laksa is normally served with either thick rice noodles or thin rice noodles (vermicelli). And topped off with “petis udang” or “hae ko”, a thick sweet prawn/shrimp paste.

Some people believes that the dirtier the cooking pot is, the more delicious the food is.

Did you notice how dirty is the 2 cooking pot? It accumulates years of stain.

Megan is the girl in black t-shirt, Gigi Chong is the girl in green t-shirt and Ah Ting is the girl at the most right of the picture.

There you go, a bowl of Penang Assam Laksa at Pasar Air Itam.

And surprisingly, they are selling this at only RM2.50!

Muar Chee, Snacks

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 132 views

Note: This blog is now running under the latest Wordpress 2.6!

Muar Chee is made from the glutinous rice paste and being steamed. It could not be kept long as it will get real sticky. It’s best to be served fresh and meant to be cut into small cubes/slices and mixed with grounded & roaster peanuts and sugar.

Muar Chee stalls can be found at some local markets in Klang Valley and it costs at least RM1.50 nowadays.

A portion of RM1.50 serves one.

Nowadays, we can hardly find Muar Chee stalls, some of them sell at the same old place while some of them roaming around at high traffic area for the maximized revenue.

For your information, Muar Chee is made from glutinous flour and peanuts at a very low cost and it sells at a good margin.

If you’ve never try Muar Chee before, you must find for one at some local markets.

Over many years, creative uncles came out with flavors such like pandan, sweet corn, black sesame and others.

Fort Cornwallis, Penang

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 213 views

I think I deserve to fail in my history subject during my PMR or whatever SPM. (I really did failed)

I didn’t know there is such thing at Penang - Fort Cornwallis.

Being the biggest and the most intact fort in Malaysia, the Fort Cornwallis is considered as an important monument and landmark in the historical development of Malaysia, particularly the island of Penang. Fort Cornwallis is situated at the spot where Captain Francis Light was supposed to have landed in 1786. Originally a wooden structure, the fort was rebuilt between 1808 and 1810 with convict labour.

Even though the fort was originally built for the Royal artillery troops and the military, its function historically was more administrative rather than defense.

In its entire history, the fort had never been engaged in any battle.

The entrance to the Lighthouse

The second oldest lighthouse in the country located at Fort Cornwallis in Penang is also opened to public admission. Originally known as Fort Point Lighthouse, it underwent renovation in 1914 and 1925, and was renamed the Penang Harbour Lighthouse. Half of George Town can be seen from the 21m-high structure. This lighthouse is special as it is the only one in the country that looks like a ship’s mast.

It is also the only one in Peninsular Malaysia that does not serve any navigational purpose. The oldest lighthouse in Malaysia is located in Tanjung Tuan, Malacca. It was built about two years before the Fort Cornwallis lighthouse.

A limited of 5 person can go up to the lighthouse that day.

The lighthouse and the shipmast-like tower at the side.

It’s unstable on the metal staircase.

Opening hours: 8.30am-7.00pm daily

Admission: RM1.00 per person

Location: Padang Kota Lama, 10200 Penang, Malaysia. (Fort Cornwallis is on the edge of Central Georgetown on Jalan T. S. S. Barakbah off Lebuh Light.)

Mill Wheel, Kepong

Monday, July 14th, 2008 323 views

Let’s take a break for Penang’s post as there are 3-4 posts to come in the next few days.

For people who like to eat or drink some flavoured ice dessert, Mill Wheel is an ideal choice at Kepong area.

The interior of Mill Wheel is so fancy with colorful decors and kindergarden seatings, it makes the working adults look weird, totally weird.

Here when I look real funny on these cute table & little stools.

3 sweet ladies - Megan Wong, Alicia Koay and Gigi Chong

Gigi Chong & Myself

At Mill Wheel, you can order some snacks or some lunch too. The food quality was being told that it’s not up to standard.

That’s the little girl doing her thing - Playing with flowers and being caught red handed.

And that’s the 3 girls loving the icey drink so much!

Every cups of dessert, the ice is so “snowy” and it melts in your mouth! The mango does not taste too sweet and it’s just right perfect.

A glass of chocolate snowy served with a bar of chocolate stick.

Did you see the texture of the snowy chocolate flavored ice?

Another chocolate snowy ice, with some chocolate syrup on top of it.

Alicia couldn’t resist to take some pictures of the dessert.

Let me explain this in english : “Before you taste the snowy ice, you must see the color and smell the aroma of it. Then, scoop and put some of the snowy ice into your mouth, so that you can feel “her” smoothness.”

Is that right? Ha ha ha!

Recommended place to go!

This place is located at Taman Usahawan Kepong (The place where Gasoline located at)

Vistana Apartments, Penang

Saturday, July 12th, 2008 819 views

CIMB Online Banking is so sucky, I tried to login with my own username & password and guess what?

“General Transaction Error”.

I still love Maybank2U best!

Nothing is better than a stunning nightshot from a 19th floor apartment at Penang.

It’s the view from our apartments at Vistana Apartments, Penang.

When people says the night is still young, that’s so fucking true.

We arrived to Penang at 1.00am and here you go, the stunning view of the buildings nearby Bagan Lepas.

I took this shot when I wake up early in the morning at 7.00am for some swimming downstairs.

Gavin Yong joined me for the swimming downstairs that morning.

I seriously can’t imagine why I can wake up in the early morning when I fall asleep the last night at about 5.00am+, and walked downstairs at 8.00am to swim!

Fuck, we must be mad.

See, I really jumped into the pool with Gavin, Ah Ting, Tella and Gigi Chong.

We are some happy fish.

Everyone ’s eye swollen, exactly like we always see every morning in the office.

Not forgetting, a shot of the apartment’s interior.

Price : Approx. RM280 for a 3-Rooms Apartment
Location : Right after crossing the Butterworth Bridge.

Recommended!

Did you know? YTL owns this.
