Friday, May 30th, 2008 631 views

Yesterday, another client told me that the found my blog in google. I was like … hmmmm..

After 2-3 months of preparation and fights, my clients managed to pull out this very good show at both Pavilion KL & Third Floor Restaurant, which is located in JW Mariott Hotel KL.

In this post, basically you will see the event props before the guests coming into the function area. The elaboration will be coming with the guests’ point of view.

1. The moment you stepped down from your car, you will be greeted by this huge balloon.

2. You will then have to walk on this red carpeted area until you reach the Hugo Boss Store Front.

3. Register yourself at the Reception Counter and this is where the party begins! Free flow of Wine & Vodka! (I must highlight this)

4. After a ribbon cutting ceremony at this outdoor area, guests are invited to the hotel which is located opposite the road, heading to Third Floor Restaurant @ JW Marriott. There is where the party begin!

5. You will then welcomed by this wooden standees with lighted candles on top.

With BOSS Hugo Boss 2D Acrylic Logos on the wall.

6. At the entrance of the restaurant, Shadow Wall being presented.

7. Flower posies on wooden standees.

8. Dessert area, where the guest have their bites here.

9. An area with a combination of cold & warm color. This is area for the guests to mingle around.

10. The place where the bar counter lighted with blue. The effects is pretty cool with the glasses on top.

11. You will see this overall function area from where the models coming out.

12. From the bartender’s point-of-view, you will see the big lightbox at the front for models. This area will be the showcase area by playing with shadows, and following with a walk to the platforms located at the center of this function.

Had you try making any online hotel room bookings before? If not, I’d recommend this website for your hotel bookings all over the world.

They have good rates and good services with the assistance of technologies. With the combination of the internet technology & mobile phone, the users are able to book their room by just some clicks on the computer mouse button.

Recently, I did a hotel booking for Bangkok, for an upcoming business trip.

I’d say the service of this website is pretty near to seamless, it has a good user-friendly user interface, allowing first time users to book their hotel rooms by just following the step-by-step instructions. With just some few clicks away, you get to book your room securely by confirming the payment using your credit card.

Nowadays, we do not need to make any phone calls for room reservation anymore. We can even compare a few hotels on their pricing, and also read some reviews on other travelers who stayed in that particular hotel before.

Upon booking approval, an email will be sent and there will be some instructions on how you get your check-in vouchers & invoices. You can just print those documents and get ready to check-in.

Once you clicked onto the link provided in your email inbox, you will be directed to this page acknowledging that you’ve read, and you will just need to print this out and show it to the hotel concierge for checking in.

I can check the booking status one-week prior to the departure date.

Even before the date of traveling, you will receive a reminder on your hotel booking.

See! I received this few days before !

Also, there are few more websites that you should know:-

  1. For last minute bookings, you can go to to http://www.ratestogo.com/
You can book last minute hotel rooms and yet to get good rates!
  2. Alternatively, you can also book your hotels at www.agoda.com.

Anyway, just make sure you compare all the prices on several websites before you confirm any bookings!

Note: This post is not on sponsored basis, it’s personal opinion of the author of this site.

The Apartments, KLCC

Friday, May 23rd, 2008 115 views

That day when we were working at the WCIT 2008 exhibition at KLCC, we had this lunch at “the apartment cafe & restaurant”, which is located at KLCC. At this restaurant, you are free to pick your own preferable sets of dining table & seats, in condition that you must arrive earlier than others to avoid any congestion.

The interior decor of this restaurant has the concept of where “They will bring you home”. The modernized concept of restaurant has it’s own style, and the food served is extremely quality and presentable.

Duck & Mango Salad

Cheese Plate, a bit of cheesie + Hup Seng Biscuit + Frozen Grape, it makes the bite so extremely tasteful & more yummy!

King Prawn Pasta, it serves with prawn sauce together with about 4-5 medium size prawns. The portion is enough for 1 or 2 (If sharing)

Beef & Vege, the slices of meat laid on the sauce with some chilie on top, it makes the medium-well beef even taste better.

Lamb Shank, the meat is a little hard, and the sauce is not too good.

Last but not least, the interior of the apartment cafe & restaurant at KLCC.

The Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 126 views

Kuala Lumpur Petronas Twin Towers.

The Petronas Twin Towers (also known as the Petronas Towers or Twin Towers), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are the world’s tallest twin buildings. Tower 2 was built by the South Korean multinational Samsung Engineering & Construction and Tower 1 by Hazama Corporation of Japan. They were the world’s tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004 if measured from the level of the main entrance to the structural top, the original height reference used by the US-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat from 1969 (three additional height categories were introduced as the tower neared completion in 1996).

Designed by Argentine-American architect César Pelli, the Petronas Towers were completed in 1998 and became the tallest buildings in the world on the date of completion. The 88-floor towers are constructed largely of reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass façade designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia’s Muslim religion. They were built on the site of Kuala Lumpur’s race track. Because of the depth of the bedrock, the buildings were built on the world’s deepest foundations. The 120-meter foundations were built by Bachy Soletanche, and required massive amounts of concrete.

In an unusual move, a different construction company was hired for each of the towers. According to both a National Geographic documentary and a Korean newspaper, Tower 2 was successfully completed by Samsung Constructions, Kukdong Engineering & Construction (both of South Korea). However, the builders of Tower 1, Hazama Corporation (Japan), ran into problems when they discovered the structure was 25 millimeters off from vertical.[5] The shopping mall beneath both towers was constructed by Birmingham, Alabama-based Bill Harbert International.

Due to a lack of steel and the huge cost of importing steel, the towers were constructed on a cheaper radical design of super high-strength reinforced concrete. High-strength concrete is a material familiar to Asian contractors and twice as effective as steel in sway reduction; however, it makes the building twice as heavy on its foundation than a comparable steel building. Supported by 23-by-23 meter concrete cores and an outer ring of widely-spaced super columns, the towers use a sophisticated structural system that accommodates its slender profile and provides from 1300 to 2000 square metres of column-free office space per floor.

Below the twin towers is Suria KLCC, a popular shopping mall, and Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, the home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Petronas, Malaysia’s national oil company, set out to build the world’s tallest building. Although other buildings such as the Sears Tower have higher occupied floors, a higher antenna, and a higher roof, the Petronas Twin Towers’ spires are classified as architectural details and rise to 452 m (1483 feet), giving it the greatest structural height until Taipei 101. Taking advantage of the rules governing building measurements (counting spires but not antennas) has generated controversy over the towers’ claim to the title. However, the tradition of including the spire on top of a building and not including the antenna dates back to the rivalry between the Chrysler Building and the 40 Wall Street.

Other buildings have used spires to increase their height but have always been taller overall to the pinnacle when trying to claim the title. In the aftermath of the controversy, the rules governing official titles were partially overhauled, and a number of buildings re-classified structural antenna as architectural details to boost their height rating (even though nothing was actually done to the building).
