Suam Lom Night Bazaar, Thailand

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 63 views

The famous Suan Lom Night Bazaar for tourists.

This is a place where you are going to get your cheap stuffs, remember always to bargain with at least 10-40%.

Don’t fight, bargaining is just an art.

Also, this is where the place that I’ve gotten the souvenirs for you. They have a lot of special handmade stuffs.

A gentle reminder again, no matter what, don’t opt for a taxi which offer a price.

We walked for a short distance to this - Bangkok Night Bazaar.

The place where people have their dinner and beer, the attraction for tourists.

Do you call the above as a romantic dinner?

At Bangkok, they have various brands of beer.

Accordingly to my colleague, this Tom Yam Gung is not as nice as our resort’s one.

The grilled squid, to be served warm.

The cockles salad, guaranteed with the level of spicyness and sourness. Imagine how it tastes like when you put one cockle into your mouth.

You will need to purchase coupons and everything is on self-service basis. Buy your coupon and order the food, pay with the coupon and bring the plate of food to your own table.

2 Days Later: Pat Pong, this is where you see the so called ‘Tiger Show’

Opening Ceremony of Wire Tube 07, BITEC Bangkok

Monday, October 29th, 2007 24 views

After busy building up and constructing the entire Austria Pavilion, it is finally the show opening date. Everyone comes early to ensure there is no hiccups and my team was there even earlier than the exhibitors to ensure their stand was properly presented.

After preparation was done, we have to stand by until 12.00pm. When the clock ticks at 11.00am, this is where the big shots come in to visit the stands.

And this is how’s the client’s stand looks like - “all about Austria”

And this is how other people’s stand looks like …

When you are telling the taxi drivers about BITEC, you will need to pronounce “Byeeeee Thaaccccc”

I was in Bangkok for this show - Wire Tube 07!

Tomorrow: Wire & Tube 07 Opening Ceremony

Motorcycle Grand Prix, Sepang

First of all, I’d like to express my gratitude to Bar Ibiza for the invitation.

Whole Set of MOTO GP Photos here : Flickr Album

Also, thank you to Susan Sim - my classmate back in college.

Well, I know I look like a zombie. I was at 8TV Studio the last night from 12.00am - 3.00am for Jukebox Moderation.

Moto GP is a new thing for me, I have no idea what is a motorbike about, and I have no license on riding any motorbikes, even a 125cc motorbike.

Take a look of the MOTO GP video.

With the VIP Invitation Card for M-Lounge, I was at Sepang International Circuit on 21 October 2007, just for the sake of visiting the lounge for a once in a life time experience.

We were late for the event, we missed the “Pit-Lane Walk”, or else there will be many more photos of pretty girls.

We couldn’t find this sign and end up wasted 1-2 hours time just to hunt this small compress foam printed with “Drop-Off & Pick-Up Point”.

There are so many motorbikes and mat rempits all over the place. Well, besides the mat rempit, you can see a lot of huge motorbikes which might cost more than your vehicle.

Everybody has to go through this, in order to reach the designated area.

The organizer has various colors of VIP pass, different color represents different zone and it has the limitation of visiting different area. We are allowed to visit only VIP Village but not the paddock. Anyone, Lawrence & I manage to sneak in.

So many people that I don’t really know. This is where we socialize.

They serve really good food, all by Pan Pacific Airport Hotel!

They have chicken, mutton, smoked salmon, marinated fish, vege, spaghetti served with 3 choices of toppings, fruits and many more!

Even the deer was there!

Everyone was given with a number for lucky draw purposes!

They gave out 1 Tshirt, more than 20 nos. of mp3 players, and not forgetting, 2 helmets signed by Casey Stoner and Cappirossi!! That’s the most valuable thing to win.

Imagine if I won that helmet, you will probably see me driving my car wearing that helmet.

I will seriously look real silly.

Cappirossi and Casey Stoner was with us, for a short brief of their history and everyone supported them to win the race later at 3.00pm!

Something that you might want to know, Casey Stoner is at the age of about 21-23 years old.

The big screen TV is for the purpose of projecting the LIVE telecast to the people who’ve purchased their seats at the Grand Stand area.

The weather is so terribly hot and when you meet me, you will probably see me tanned.

Told you earlier that we sneaked into the garage, and this is how it looks like!

If we were caught for entering without the correct pass, our passed will be confisticated immediately!

Thats the famous DUCATI!

Well, red tshirt doesnt mean the DUCATI’s supporter.

This is why you can see LIVE from the bird eye’s view.

I love this shot very much! It is so Macro!

At M Lounge, we have all the free stuffs like : -

  1. Free Beer
  2. Free Ciggs
  3. Free Food
  4. Free Souvenirs
  5. Free Rides

13 Coins Airport Grand Resort, Bangkok

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 44 views
Daily Say : My contract in 8TV is ending soon, anyone is interested to work as a moderator every Friday to Sunday at 12.00am - 3.00am? You will need to be a punctual person and to be able to read mandarin. RM40.00 per hour. Location will be at Sri Pentas TV3. Please forward your resume to benghan@gmail.com. Please ask only appropriate question and please raise questions when you are seriously interested in this position and no jokers will be entertained.

The name “13 Coins” used to be a very famous name in Seattle, Washington. The owner of this resort went Seattle for a training and he has brought back 500,000 Baht to start his empire in Thailand. By the year 2007, he has a total of 30 outlets in Thailand.

When you see an uncle sitting at the main entrance, wearing a torn shirt and slippers, you don’t know that he is actually a rich owner of this resort. Yes, no joke.

I booked this resort with credit card through RatestoGo and immediately I receive a call from the manager of this resort. I was offered with an airport transfer to this resort.

During year 1976 onwards, I believe that this resort is a very well-known place for dining. They have very great, nice and cheap seafood. (I will write about their food later on)

If you are a traveler who would like to go to the Bangkok City Centre, I do not recommend this resort due to it’s distance. You should opt for some hotel nearby the city centre, which will cost you more than this.

Oh by the way, it’s only USD29 per room per night.

Well, the wooden built resort was a run-down resort. You can hardly see people around. It is so quiet and it is a little bit quite scary.

You will be transferred from the Hotel Lobby to your room, using their buggy services.

This is how the exterior looks like.

The lake is no longer a lake, it is now over-flooded with rain water.

This is how the room looks like, a very small and cozy room.

Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand

Monday, October 22nd, 2007 39 views

So, what do you say about Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand?

Always remember to set your phone to GSM mode and with automatically search mode, for an International Roaming. (Of course, you will need to have an International Roaming Activated Line in order for you to do so).

Once you’ve landed, you can just simply switch on your phone and your friends can still get in touch with you. (Don’t tell them that you are in Bangkok, they will discover it when the bill comes! Haha!)

As usual, the new airport is spacious and it’s newly built. It is not as big as KLIA but it is good enough to cater many tourists flowing into Thailand every year.

If you don’t know how to speak Thai, no worries. You can go to the Information Counter to look for help. Always look for the proper sign for toilets or restaurants. English wordings will still be displayed on the directional signages.

They have long escalators cater for trolleys.

There you go, this is how Suvarnabhumi Airport Thailand looks like.

Always hop onto a taxi with meter charges, don’t opt for a taxi which the price offered by the driver.

It will cost you less than RM50.00/500Baht from airport to the city center.

Bangkok, Thailand

Saturday, October 20th, 2007 33 views

Dear Readers,

The business trip was ended successfully, manager & I met clients and had dinner with them at Coca Thailand. I made friends like Thai suppliers, Singaporean organizers, clients from different countries. Seeing so many new stuffs in exhibition.

Thai people are just simply, helpful!

I’ve just stepped off from the plane last night, it is a 2 hours flight from Bangkok. The Thailand’s Air Asia plane is an old-style plane and you can image how it look like, when you are thinking of the movie - Lost.

Bangkok is a very dusty place with friendly Thai people. They don’t really know how to speak English and you will have to use your hands to either draw, or to point, in order for them to get the meaning. If you don’t know Thai language, communicating will be a problem.

Currency
In Malaysia, you can get the currency exchange rate of about RM1000 to 9780 Baht. For a ‘Free and Easy’ Business Trip with some visits to the famous places, probably you will need about RM2000 for 7 days. Please be careful of your wallet, passport and belongings. There are a lot of snatch thiefs at the city centre. Please bring along your credit card, you will need it, just in case of emergency.

Internet Technology
It is available at major shopping centres, major hotels, major convention centre. What you need to do is to purchase a package at the price of Rm60.00/600 Baht with the limited usage of 5 hours. Bring along your laptop if you need to Work-On-The-Go. It’s useful. To learn more about their Internet Technology, surf www.truewifi.net.

Communication
In Thailand, you will need to learn for a few Thai languages before you arrive. Few examples are : -

  1. Kop Khoon Khrap/Kah : Thank You
  2. Kap : Yes (Man)
  3. Kah : Yes (Lady)
  4. Mourn : Turn
  5. Ya-iK : Move
  6. Sait : Side
  7. Hello : Sawadikrap / Sawadikah
  8. More examples, please search the google. There are plenty of them.

And worry not, most of the Thai people are friendly, they will help you if you know how to ask politely.

If your phone don’t have any international roaming, good to get one. If not, please get a prepaid service called “DTAC”. You will need it. Trust me.

Taxi & Transportation
Remember, Thailand is an attraction of tourists. Do not board on a taxi which they offer you a price. Opt for a taxi with a meter. From outskirt to the town center will cost you about RM20.00 / 200 Baht only. Don’t let the taxi drivers offer you the price of 500 Baht. If to reject a taxi driver, just say “Kop Khoon Khrap” (Thank You) and walk away politely.

Alternatively, you can take the Skytrain at the maximum cost of 400Baht.

Food & Beverages
You can purchase mineral water at the price of RM1.50/150 Baht. Don’t drink their tap water, it wasn’t properly filtered! Eating seafood in major restaurants is affordable. They have big crabs or prawns at the affordable price. In major famous restaurants, communicating in English will not be a problem. Most of the restaurants will not give you any receipts so that they can skip the government tax of 7% (They call it as VAT 7%). Anyway, you can ask for it.

Places to Go
If its the first time you are visiting Thailand, the places that it’s a must to go are : -

  1. Central World Shopping Centre : It’s like a Starhill with expensive classy stuffs
  2. MBK : It’s like a Sungei Wang with cheap stuffs
  3. Grand Palace : It’s a famous temple
  4. Wat Po
  5. Wat Arun
  6. Pat Pong : A place with night markets and carabat show.
  7. Suan Lom Night Bazaar : A place with items, remember to bargain to at least 10-40%.

This is the summary of my Bangkok trip, for the reading pleasure of the readers of benghan.com.

Detailed places will be blogged every 2 days, please come back for more.

Moto GP, Sepang

2 more days, 2 more days to MOTO GP Sepang International Circuit!

Come back for more photos!

Why do you need to spend time with your family.

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 61 views

Reading Sam’s blog, this is worth to share. No matter how busy we are, we must spend time with our loved ones.

It has been 2 months I’m working with new employment. It is so different comparing my previous employment and seriously I think that I have wasted too much time doing nothing in the office last time. Currently, every minute counts. You don’t have the time to go for toilet or you won’t have the time to talk on phone with your friends. You can only call the suppliers or to receive calls from clients.

There are so many quotations and so many projects ongoing at the same time, and every projects need to be very detailed in order to ensure nothing goes wrong. It is hilarious of what I did in my past employment but then, I’m glad that it’s a stepping stone for me.

It is just a 2nd month working at the new office, I’m getting used to it, and beginning to have some sales. Recently, manage to close 1 sale from Australia and 1 sale from United States. It’s just about the job satisfaction having the clients to sign on the dotted lines.

There are more to go, many clients to meet, many quotations to type, many negotiations to make. The more exhibition it is, the more chances I get to see more things on different industries.

Of course, the more people I will be meeting with, the better charisma that I will gain.

Even how busy I am, I will still spend time for my friends and my family. This is because, I realize that importance of love and friendship.

For the readers whom don’t know what I am doing: -

  • I meet clients
  • I propose exhibition booth designs
  • I confirm designs with clients
  • I get quotations from suppliers
  • I close sales

If you are a supplier of any props manufacturer, office furnitures, video productions, inkjet images, etc. You can contact me so that we can work out something in near future.

Now, let me share a story where I read it at Sam’s blog.

A small touching story mainly for professionals…

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SoN: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?”

DAD: “Yeah sure, what is it?” replied the man.

SON: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?”

DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.

SON: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”

DAD: “If you must know, I make Rs.100 an hour.”

SON: “Oh,” the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: “Daddy, may I please borrow Rs.50?”

The father was furious, “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behavior.”

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy’s questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that Rs.50 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.

“Are you asleep, son?” He asked.
“No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy.

“I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier” said the man.

“It’s been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here’s the Rs.50 you asked for.”

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. “Oh, thank you daddy!” He yelled.

Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

“Why do you want more money if you already have some?” the father grumbled.
“Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.

“Daddy, I have Rs.100 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.”

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It’s just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent sometime with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

Do remember to share that Rs.100 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days.
But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.

By the way, I will be back on 19 October 2007.
